PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The Chipotle All-American Game is an amped-up version of an All-Star Game.

Featuring 42 of the top draft-eligible players from USA Hockey’ National Team Development Program and the USHL, the goal judges are often busy with the teams typically combining for 10 goals or more in the showcase.

But the past two years, some of the goalies have pushed back a bit.

At the 2025 All-American Game, four goalies held down the fort in a tight 3-2 game. This year, Tobias Trejbal and Ryan Cameron put together an impressive 30-minute goalie duel on a night where Team Blue eventually won 5-4 at USA Hockey Arena.

Trejbal, who plays for the Youngstown Phantoms, stopped all 19 shots he faced. Cameron, a member of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, stopped 17 of 18 shots on the other end.

“I definitely pay attention to it in a game like this,” Cameron said. “I met [Trejbal] this week and it’s kind of a cool dynamic for two goalies to have a strong game in a game like this. You don’t let it affect your game because you can’t control what happens down there and he was really locked in.”

It wasn’t just quantity chances against both goalies, but quality ones as well.

Trejbal had to make a couple athletic saves in the first period, while Cameron answered with some of his own, including a breakaway save after a Team Blue turnover.

Patience has paid off for both goalies on their way to this showcase.

Trejbal, who is committed to play college hockey at the University of Massachusetts, came over to the USHL this season from his native Czechia and has thrived in net for the Phantoms. He wasn’t originally chosen for the All-American Game but was an injury replacement this week for Brady Knowling.

“I got the call this week and I was just so excited about the chance,” Trejbal said. “It’s a nice chance for me to really show myself in a big opportunity here.”

Cameron’s road to the All-American Game is a bit longer winding. He played in the NAHL last season with the Lone Star Brahmas, dominating that circuit with a .948 save percentage in 30 regular season games.

There were some struggles making the jump to the USHL this season, Cameron admitted, but he was able to find his game and earned a start in the All-American game where he showed off his calm demeanor that will probably excite NHL scouts.

“You grow your hockey IQ as you challenge yourself,” Cameron said. “So that’s gotten a lot better in the USHL and the speed of it all has helped, you kind of take all of that and you focus on building your game with some patience.”

While neither goalie was thinking too much about it directly, both likely improved their  2026 NHL Draft stock, showing off their game in an arena filled with NHL executives and scouts from all 32 teams.

Scoring opened up after both goalies left the net, with Wyatt Cullen, Dayne Beuker, and Zach Wooten scoring for Team White. Team Blue got the win thanks to goals from AJ Garcia, Brody George, Will Tomko, Cooper Soller and the game-winner from Jamie Glance.

In the end on Thursday, Cameron’s team got the win, but Trejbal’s teammate Cullen was named game MVP after scoring twice and dishing out an assist.

“It means a lot. I just knew coming in it was going to be a fast-paced, high-skill game,” Cullen said. “So just trying to do my best out there and show what I can do, and I did that today.”
